Tickets on Sale Now for Tall Ships Cannon Battles and Adventure Sails

VICTORIA, B.C. (May 26, 2008) – If you have ever dreamed of playing pirates on a real pirate ship or experiencing life aboard a working Tall Ship, now is your chance to make it a reality. Tickets are now on sale for the evening cannon battles and afternoon adventure sails being held as part of the Victoria Tall Ships Festival, June 26-29. Tickets are limited, and these tours sold out quickly during the 2005 event.

Pirates Ahead! Take Aim!
The whole family will enjoy spectacular cannon blasts and skilled manoeuvring on board one of six vessels taking part in sea battles staged off Victoria’s Dallas Road waterfront. Two replica privateers, the famous brig Lady Washington, featured in the movie Pirates of the Caribbean, and the nimble schooner Lynx take aim in battle with the able Hawaiian Chieftain. Three observer ships – the Adventuress, the Maple Leaf and the Amazing Grace – will keep a watchful eye at close range.

Tours run Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 27-29, from 6:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $95 aboard battle ships and $80 for passage on the observer ships.

Sail back in time
Board a majestic tall ship for a three-hour Afternoon Adventure Sail and be transported back in time. Passengers can get as involved as they like in assisting crew or just enjoy the exhilaration of the wind in the sails. Three beautiful heritage Tall Ships will participate in these tours: the 133-foot schooner Adventuress; the renowned Canadian 92-foot schooner Maple Leaf; and the Amazing Grace, an 83-foot topsail schooner reminiscent of the early American privateer ships.

Tours run Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 27-29, from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. Tickets are $70.

Tickets for both the Cannon Battles and the Afternoon Adventure Sails are only available online at www.tallshipsvictoria.ca. See website for complete details and boarding information.
