VICTORIA TALL SHIPS SOCIETY

 

The Victoria Tall Ships® Society is a non-profit organization established in Victoria, British Columbia in May 2003 for the purpose of hosting the American Sail Training Association (ASTA) Tall Ships Challenge® Race during its 2005 visit of west coast ports.  The Society, after hosting the tall ships again in 2008, is now busy planning for the return of the Tall Ships Challenge® from June 9 to 12, 2011.

Set Sail for Victoria’s Tall Ships Festival

 

VICTORIA, B.C. (June 3, 2008) – Spectacular Parade of Sail kicks off four days of maritime fun for the entire family

The sights and sounds of seafaring life will sail into Victoria this month when the 2008 Tall Ships Festival docks at the city’s historic Inner Harbour, June 26-29.

The colourful Parade of Sail will kick-off festivities at noon on Thursday, June 26, when more than two-dozen of the world’s finest Tall Ships gather under sail off Victoria and parade into the festival docks.

Tickets on Sale Now for Tall Ships Cannon Battles and Adventure Sails

VICTORIA, B.C. (May 26, 2008) – If you have ever dreamed of playing pirates on a real pirate ship or experiencing life aboard a working Tall Ship, now is your chance to make it a reality. Tickets are now on sale for the evening cannon battles and afternoon adventure sails being held as part of the Victoria Tall Ships Festival, June 26-29. Tickets are limited, and these tours sold out quickly during the 2005 event.

Thrifty Foods, Navy join forces to present Festival’s new Tall Ships University

 

VICTORIA, B.C. (May 5, 2008) – So you think you have what it takes to crew aboard a mighty Tall Ship?

Thanks to Thrifty Foods and the Canadian Navy, youth will now have the opportunity to hone their Tall Ships® skills as part of a new hands-on training program being offered at the Victoria Tall Ships Festival, June 26-29.

Columbus replica to join Victoria Tall Ships Festival Fleet

 

VICTORIA (February 7, 2008) – A replica of one of the ships commanded by Christopher Columbus on his discovery of the New World in 1492 will make her first-ever voyage to Victoria as part of the 2008 Victoria Tall Ships® Festival, June 26-29.

Tourism veteran Lorne Whyte joins crew of Victoria Tall Ships Society

 

VICTORIA (January 21, 2008) – The Victoria Tall Ships® Society is pleased to announce that Lorne Whyte has joined the Society’s Board of Directors. Mr. Whyte’s wealth of experience in the tourism and business sectors is a much-welcomed addition to the crew actively planning the 2008 Victoria Tall Ships Festival, coming June 26-29 to Victoria’s Inner Harbour.

The Countdown to the 2008 Tall Ships Festival Begins

 

(VICTORIA) October 16, 2007- Fans of the seafaring life will be turning their attention to Victoria, British Columbia again next year, when the world’s finest tall ships sail into the city’s Inner Harbour as part of the 2008 Tall Ships Challenge June 26 to 29, the Victoria Tall Ships Society and Victoria Mayor Allan Lowe announced today.
